The 8th Annual OluKai Ho‘olaule‘a went off last weekend and the conditions were ideal for the famous Maui downwinder. Local Talia Decoite, 13 year old Jade Howson and Daniel Russel from Team Riviera made the trip out to Maui to compete and participate in the weekend events.
"The Olukai race of 2016 was nothing but perfect. Perfect wind, perfect weather, perfect swell. It was amazing. Probably some of the best downwind paddling I have ever done in my life! All of the Riviera team members killed it out there. Talia Decoite got 6th place overall elite women which is insane! She was going so fast after we turned the corner. Also Daniel Russel killed it with a 1st place finish in the 19-28 14' foot category. I was happy to come home 12th women overall and 1st in the under 18 open division! It was so great to see all of the Hawaiian kids again too! The Olukai was a great event and I cannot wait until next year! "
